The Canadian Basketball Festival is to be held in Oshawa at the Durham College/UOIT Campus Recreation Centre on Friday July 1st.

The Canada Day event will be an unprecedented full-day celebration of Canadian culture, sports and active living. The CBF will be the only ‘sports related’ event in the Durham Region and the only scheduled event taking place in the North Oshawa area on Canada’s Birthday.

While celebrating Canada’s 144th year and basketball’s 120th year of existence, there will be a socially responsible element. The CBF has partnered with FEED THE NEED IN DURHAM to help raise food and proceeds to go towards assisting in their charitable cause to end hunger within the Durham Region. For updates and information about Feed the Need in Durham visit WWW.FTND.CA

Throughout the day there will be a KIDSZONE featuring JUMPING CASTLES, games, activities, prizes and live entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.

The CBF will tip off at 10:00am with a FASTBREAK BREAKFAST followed by a BARBEQUE and REFRESHMENT ZONE operating the rest of the day. Additionally, the MARKETPLACE will give participants and spectators an opportunity to browse and shop from local merchants and exhibitors. For updates and information about the Canada Day celebration visit WWW.CBF2011.CA

The highlight of the CBF will be the ABA-CANADA SHOWCASE featuring a four team basketball tournament with all-star players representing Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton and Durham. The Showcase will not only have great basketball, but exciting half-time shows and entertainment. ABA-Canada is a new Canadian based professional basketball league that will have a team playing out of the Durham Region in its inaugural season (Spring 2012).
